First observation: despite the advertisements, creating a free online CV does not exist. So watch out for scams!

Online CV (onlinecv.fr) is a site that offers to create your CV online as well as cover letters. Online CV was created in 2017 by the Spanish company Lead Career SL, a company specialized in the creation and design of online CVs . Here is our evaluation when we tested the service on their site.

- Design quality : ⭐⭐⭐ It remains quite basic, but effective.
- Price: ⭐ Very expensive. Subscription of €29.95 per month or €95.40 annually, depending on the package chosen.
- Support : ⭐ contact form only
- The pros: you can easily fill out the sections one by one, with advice and examples as you go along to help you write your CV. The advice is good quality and the system is very easy to use, very pleasant to see the content being written in real time.
- Cons: the structure of the template is not customizable. We do not really realize when starting to choose our CV template the constraints imposed by the chosen structure. For example, the Centers of Interest section is missing from the template we chose, the training section appears empty and the CV created is on 2 pages without us realizing it (not specified when completing). Finally, it is impossible to download the CV template unless you pay. The prices are announced at the end, so you spend time making your CV online only to feel trapped at the end.
ONLINE CV, the editorial opinion: 4/10
With Online CV , our opinion is that the handling is simple but the customization is quite limited. All very expensive for a result that is similar to filling out a CV template on PowerPoint . Beware of the subscription system that will very quickly charge you large sums (the monthly offer at €7.95/month is billed in one go for 12 months - specified in very small print...).

CV Wizard was created in 2017 by the Dutch company Resumedia, a company specializing in the creation and design of online CVs for job seekers. Here is our opinion when we tested the service on their site.

- Design quality : ⭐⭐ Very basic
- Price: ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ Affordable. Subscription at €5.99 per month.
- Support : ⭐ Contact form only
- Pros: ability to import your PDF CV to automatically pre-fill the information. You can easily fill in the sections one by one, with tips and examples as you go to help you write your CV. Very easy to use.
- Cons: no visibility on the impact of the pre-written content on the CV template that you will choose at the end of the process, which can take time. You first fill in your information a little “blindly”, it must be admitted. When the information was integrated into the CV, the result was not conclusive: many empty spaces, poorly balanced. Impossible to edit or personalize the sections. You have to pay to be able to download, after having spent time once again filling everything out.
CV WIZARD, the editorial opinion: 5/10
Our opinion on this service is that it is very easy to get started with but the pre-filled CV is done completely blindly . In the end, it is a question of discovering fairly basic models and in very limited number. A result that is similar to filling out a PowerPoint CV template . The prices are affordable but the subscription system will very quickly charge large sums every month. We have not tested whether it is easy to unsubscribe...

- Price: ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ Very affordable. Premium CV templates between €5.99 and €7.99. No subscription. The service is paid for with other complementary services.

- The pros: CVDesignr is an interactive direct completion system. The user only has to fill in step by step while being guided in the introduction by the tutorial. Wide variety of CV templates , some free ones are of good quality. Very easy to use with the possibility of moving the blocks as you wish. The options are endless.
- Cons: account creation is quite long in the introduction with lots of useless information to provide for the CV. Additional services are quite expensive (min 25€). Still unstable, some bugs and errors.
CV DESIGNR, the editorial opinion: 7/10
Our opinion is that CVDesignr is a kind of PowerPoint dedicated to the online CV 100% with the possibility of downloading your CV for free. Good quality CV templates . Ideal for those who do not master the tools of the Microsoft suite or who are looking for “marketing” options for their CV (follow-up of reading of applications, etc.).

CV Maker (cvmaker.fr) is a site that offers different solutions: create your CV online , help with writing your CV (have your professional CV written or optimized). The service, the 3-step operation and the site are similar in every way to CV Wizard . Here is our opinion when we tested this site to make a CV.

CV MAKER, the editorial opinion: 2/10
Our opinion is quite clear. CV Maker is very (very) similar to CV Wizard with its 3-step system, and with the same pitfalls. Few CV templates , very basic design, no visibility on the final rendering before having finished filling everything. Its only positive point could be the very attractive price. But the absence of conditions of sale & legal notices in order (registration of the company) and telephone assistance do not reassure on the management of subscription cancellations. Especially in view of the recurring complaints on our site .
Live Career: the American leader in online CV creation
Live Career (livecareer.fr) is a platform of the American group BOLD, also creator of the employment assistance solutions “Resume Now”, “my Perfect Resume” or “Mighty Recruiter”. Live Career offers the creation of online CVs but also other job search services to connect job seekers and recruiters.

Live Career 's service is of good quality and the support is clearly reassuring. On the other hand, the quality/price ratio is not interesting. Easy to get started with a system very similar to Online CV with essential points of improvement, but the prices are very high for fairly poor CV designs.
Create your CV online with Aide CV
Same conclusions as Live Career because the interface is copy/pasted. Only the prices differ with the subscription of €23.90 per month after 14 days of trial or €76.90 annually, depending on the chosen package. Very expensive.
Our conclusion on online CV creation sites
Making a CV online has a definite advantage: it makes it easier to get to grips with the layout for anyone who is not comfortable enough with Word or Powerpoint. This attempts to compensate for a lack of variety in the design of the models. Moderately attractive prices compared to the quality of the rendering, very close to a very classic CV model to fill out on Powerpoint .
